Extension of Tri-agency scholarships and fellowships

If you are an award holder for a research training program covered by the Tri-Agency Research Award Training Holder’s Guide, you may be able to get a 4-month extension on your funding. This cannot be combined with the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) or the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).

If you are an award holder for a research training program covered by the Tri-Agency Research Award Training Holder’s Guide (for example scholarships and fellowships through the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship), and your research scholarships or fellowships end between March and August 2020, you may be able to get a 3-month extension on your funding. A 3-month extension in funding will also be provided for holders of federal research grants to support trainees and staff paid out of these awards.

Eligibility

You may be able to get this relief if:

  • You are an eligible student or trainee
  • Your research was disrupted by COVID-19
  • Your research scholarships or fellowships end between March and August 2020.
